Nancy Anne Sakovich was born on October 8,1961, in Belleville , Ontario , Canada.
She grew up in Ottawa,Ontario and attended the Laurentian High-School there. She continued her academic studies, studying at Trent University in Peterborough,Ontario and graduated with a B.A degree in Biology.
Nancy was discovered by Elite Modeling Agency (now Elite Model Management Toronto) , and started her career in the world of fashion, in Toronto. Enticed by the idea of world travel,she traveled as an international model.moving first to New York, she soon settled in Europe countries – Germany,Italy,France and England- where she spent three years appearing on magazine covers and runways, and had a successful fashion magazine career in her early 20’s.
Back in Canada, she appeared on various TV ads, including series of commercials for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and the Jamieson Vitamins, among others.
Nancy felt that modeling wasn’t very thrilling but acting was “an instant passion”
“I started developing more of a persona on TV ads and as I moved up to the 30 second spots,I sort of broke the model image.models have a reputation for being only able to pose; when they found out I could walk and talk as well, I started getting more interesting jobs”.
following her passion,she eventually left the modeling career and turned to acting.
of course acting wasn’t completely new to her as she used to be member of the drama team while in high-school,participated in “The Improve Games” theater-sports, and had a successful way.their team “Beating the Stars” represented Canada in an international improvisation drama contest held in New York City ,and placed first in the competition.
Turning to acting Nancy quickly obtained major roles in a variety of TV productions. She appeared in many films and TV series, including a title role in the Telefilm Golden Will:Silken Laumann Story, major secondary role as Jane Benson in Category 6:Day of Destruction, and recurring guest roles in numerous shows such as Katts and dogs,Relic Hunter,Doc and Kung Fu:The Legend Continues, to name a few.
Her best known role is as the series lead Senior data analyst and Biologist Lindsay Donner in the SciFi show “Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal”.
She also presented the 10th Gemini Awards (1996) as host, and also appeared as special guest on the cooking TV program Table for Two.
Nancy likes to play roles that has something to say,
I don’t want to do the bimbo stuff” “You do have choices,and as you make choices it may change somebody’s mind.It’s not just women’s lib-it’s about people living together as people“.
In 2002 Nancy participated in the annual charity event “Light,Camera,Auction” , and the following years she donated to the charity, until the last event in 2007.
Nancy is a fitness fanatic, she enjoys weight training, and some of her favorite activities include tennis , ice climbing,horse back riding and rock climbing.
She has two sisters.
She currently spends time with her family,residing in Toronto or spending in Ottawa.”
